It’s a celebration!

October 25, 2010

Earlier this week we held our Captain’s Welcome Cocktail Party. It’s one of the few nights where all our guests get to dress up as most evenings they are either exploring new ports or are on tours. (Sometimes they are just too tired from all our inclusive excursions!)

This is an opportunity for us to meet all the new guests who joined Aegean Odyssey, and where all guests were greeted personally by The Master of Aegean Odyssey, Captain Roland Andersson. Captain Andersson is well known to many of our guests who have sailed with him on our owner’s previous cruise ventures.

At the Captain’s table we had Mr and Mrs Patillo from Atlanta, Georgia, USA who were proudly celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary! Celebrating with champagne and cake, Mr Patillo told us that when he first met his wife he was initially attracted to her best friend but she looked ‘kinda flighty’ where as he suspected Elizabeth was ‘solid and a keeper’! They have four sons and eight grandchildren.

We’re delighted that they chose Aegean Odyssey and cruise with Voyages to Antiquity as a special way of celebrating such a fantastic milestone.

After dinner, guests were treated to a splendid evening of entertainment provided by Nicki, our resident pianist/singer. Again many of our team have worked with our owner previously and we often have comments from guests that it’s lovely to have familiar faces around the ship. It was a great start to what promised to be an active cruise as we head down the Adriatic to Greece.
