We’ve been so lucky with the weather during our first three days onboard Aegean Odyssey. Yesterday was warm and sunny – perfect for visiting and walking around archeological sites. Today was a little hotter with a lovely breeze – making Sorrento look a beautiful.
This was the first proper day of filming for us – with shots all over the ship and the stunning backdrop of the Amalfi coast – it was a non-stop day for the team. It’s always difficult to get shots without intruding on our guests’ precious holiday experiences. The passengers are starting to recognize us – and are asking when the programme will be aired. (I’ll post all the details in the main blog when I get home.)
Our crew of Gareth, producer, accompanied by Tom and Tom, the camera man and the sound man, had joined on the second evening – so were settled into the ship when our presenter Julie Peasgood arrived early in this morning. Julie is a recognisable celebrity in the UK – having worked on a number of dramas over the last 20 years as well as acting as a voiceover artist in commercial television. We have a really tight schedule for the five days, with every half hour mapped out on specific scenes; all scripted and prepared.
As most of our guests ‘do their own thing’ on the second day in Sorrento, there were still quite a few passengers on the ship looking to enjoy the facilities onboard and the sunshine. On some days Aegean Odyssey can really look like a ghost ship with guests all on shore for our included tours. We have a small group of travel agents travelling with us and they rounded up some of the other ladies and headed off on the catamaran over to the stunning Island of Capri. For us back on the ship, we filmed the buffets and the lectures, both important aspects of the Voyages to Antiquity experience.
As you can tell we’re running around – so more tomorrow. Time is against me on this trip, so please be patient with me on photos – I’ll load a large batch to both the blog and our Facebook page over the next few days.
Back to the filming! We’re off around Palermo today… so looking forward to this one!

Mt. Etna is putting on quite a show right now, are you getting that on tape? It must be spectacular!
The Aegean Odyssey has become an enviable lifestyle experience!
For all who are cruising on this lovely ship now, enjoy!!
