In May 2017, Aegean Odyssey will sail from the ancient city of Rome to the picturesque city of Nice on the French Riviera. It’s a springtime cruise that offers calls to some of the best destinations in the Mediterranean, over the course of 11-days, and includes 6 tours in 2 countries. The ideal spring break, and with a single supplement of only 10%, everyone can enjoy this wonderful journey with us.
Aegean Odyssey will sail from Rome to the city of Olbia in northeast Sardinia, where you can enjoy a wonderful morning tour of Olbia and Porto Rotondo or take the optional tour to the Emerald Coast and Nuraghe Albucciu. This beautiful region is full of boutiques, wine bars and sandy beaches to enjoy during your afternoon at leisure and overnight stay, before Aegean Odyssey cruises past Iles Lavezzi and the Maddalena Archipelago as you head for your next port of call: Bonifacio.
Elba, Italy appears on the horizon on day 4 of your sailing and your half day included tour here will see you follow the path of Napoleon Bonaparte as you explore the island where he was exiled from 1814 to 1815. The highlight is a walking tour that visits the Emperor’s principal residence, an elaborate villa overlooking the city, much of it unchanged from when he lived here.
Aegean Odyssey will then head north and to the port of Livorno for an overnight stay. Livorno is the gateway for Florence and Pisa, and on this cruise, you can enjoy included tours in both cities. Your first day allows you the choice of included tours in Florence (a UNESCO World Heritage Site): a full day exploring the regions churches or a day on foot that will allow you to discover the town that gave birth to the Italian Renaissance. Returning to Aegean Odyssey, you can relax and unwind with a delicious meal in either the Marco Polo restaurant or the Terrace Café before you begin your second day of sightseeing, this time in Lucca and Pisa.
A sea day allows time to unwind and enjoy lectures from our wonderful guest speakers. On this sailing, we are pleased to have NADFAS Accredited Lecturer Jeremy Boudreau, Bob Porter from the Brandenburg Choral Festival of London and the popular Dr David Price-Williams (University of London) on board.
On the morning of Saturday June 3, Aegean Odyssey will arrive in Marseille, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and again you are offered a choice of 2 included tours. A visit to Avignon’s Papal Palace (also a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is always a popular choice for those that have explored Marseilles previously, but if you have not, our ‘Marseilles and Aix en Provence’ full day tour will allow you time to fully appreciate this remarkable destination.
Cannes, France marks the last of your port days, but you’ll be pleased to know that an overnight stay is offered, allowing you time to explore Cannes, and should you wish to venture a little further up the coast, the extravagance of Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo is an included, full day tour option, but if you’d prefer to get out into the countryside, we also offer an included half day tour to the medieval village of St Paul de Vence. Your second day in Cannes is spent at leisure before Aegean Odyssey sails for Nice, where you will bid farewell and continue your journey home.
