Voyages to Antiquity was recently awarded with the prestigious title of ‘Best Small Ship Cruise Line’ in the consumer voted British Travel Awards 2017, we also managed to pick up a Silver award for ‘Best Specialist Cruise Line’, but it doesn’t end there. Since 2009, VTA has collected enough industry-recognised awards to fill a ship and we couldn’t have done it without you.
Voyages to Antiquity has come a long way since its creation back in 2009 and we’re incredibly proud of our achievements over the last several years. We offer a unique cruise experience which is designed for travellers who want to understand more about the history, culture and natural wonders of the ancient world. Our small ship, Aegean Odyssey, is perfectly suited to our destination-rich itineraries while our lecture programme connects you with the places you’ll visit before you even go ashore. It’s tried, it’s tested and clearly, our guests enjoy it. We have pursued the ancient aspects of each destination since the day we launched, in fact, very little has changed. This was one of our first announcements to the world, back in November 2009, and as you can see, we still rest on the same values when it comes to travel…
Gerry Herrod, founder of Ocean Cruise Line and Orient Lines, has announced a new destination cruise line, Voyages to Antiquity. The new venture is designed in the same spirit that Mr. Herrod created the Ocean Pearl’s unique Far East program and Orient Lines itineraries aboard the Marco Polo, but this time focused only on the Mediterranean
Cruises on the Aegean Odyssey will begin in May of 2010 and Voyages to Antiquity will provide an experience where guests learn about the cultures and people who created the “cradle of civilizations” of the Mediterranean. Meticulously planned itineraries are inspired by John Julius Norwich’s book “The Middle Sea” that traces the development and impact of the three prominent ancient cultures in Rome, Egypt and Greece. The small ship is able to provide truly unique experiences by sailing closer to the coast and visiting many unique harbours and inlets near otherwise inaccessible sites ashore.
The aim is to combine the very best in cultural travel – fascinating destinations and first-class lecturers – with a sense of fun and style. This sense of fun does not stretch to nightclubs and casinos. Some of the traditional formalities of cruising, such as formal nights and black tie receptions, have been dispensed with and “smart casual” best describes the dress code.
These are the awards that Voyages to Antiquity has won since launch and we are sure there will be many more to add to the collection in the coming years:
