Voyages to Antiquity is delighted to announce its membership of the Ashmolean Museum’s exclusive, Corporate Circle – we are delighted to be supporting such an amazing museum and one that is based near our head office in Oxford.
The Ashmolean is the University of Oxford’s museum of art and archaeology and was founded in 1683. The museum’s collections are extraordinarily diverse, representing most of the world’s great civilisations, with objects dating from 8000 BC to the present day. Among many riches they also have the world’s greatest collection of Raphael drawings, the most important collection of Egyptian pre-Dynastic sculpture and ceramics outside Cairo, the only great Minoan collection in Britain, outstanding Anglo-Saxon treasures, and the foremost collection of modern Chinese painting in the Western world.
You can find out more about the history of this wonderful museum by visiting its website.
We are delighted to have been invited to become part of the Ashmolean Museum’s exclusive Corporate Circle. This is a select group of companies who have a very special relationship with Oxford University’s most prestigious Museum, providing financial support as well as exciting opportunities for our customers to interact with the Ashmolean’s extensive and diverse collection.
Many of our passengers will already know Dr Paul Roberts from our on-board programme of expert lecturers. Aside from his travels with us, Dr Roberts is also Sackler Keeper of Antiquities and is the Assistant Curator of the Ashmolean’s forthcoming exhibition, ‘Storms, War and Shipwrecks: Treasures from the Sicilian Seas,’ on 20th June – just one of the many reasons why we are thrilled to forge ever close ties with the Museum.
Join Dr Paul Roberts on board Aegean Odyssey of her “Historic Spain, Sicily & Italy” cruise on 11th May 2017, which offers several full days on the beautiful island of Sicily. During this cruise he will be lecturing on:
